Lynn ends FP1 fastest


Alex Lynn ends his maiden practice session fastest in a session that saw the track continually evolve as it dried out from last nights rain. 

It was hard to gauge what team will perform well from the first session as the track dried out in the final few minutes of the session which saw the lap times constantly get quicker.

Pierre Gasly, who is replacing Sebastien Buemi for this weekend had a solid session despite ending the session in 17th place.

The start of practice 

It was not long until the first car stopped on track. As Venturi’s Tom Dillmann came to a halt. The Frenchmen was unable to get going and caused a red flag.

The session was red flag for eight minutes. Once the session restarted it was a battle between Nicolas Prost and Daniel Abt for the fastest lap time.

The track was damp at the start of the session due to the overnight rain. The track was drying out rapidly through the session which saw the lap times drop significantly.

Alex Lynn was having a good session. The British driver who is replacing Jose Maria Lopez for this weekend was running in second place during most of the session.

Sam Bird was also showing his strong pace, as he jumped to P1 with 25 minutes of the session remaining. However, his teammate Lynn again managed to beat Bird’s lap time as the track started to fully dry out.

Final few minutes 

Loic Duval showed great potential for the Dragon Racing team. The French driver was running in jumped to the top of timesheets once the track had dried out.

Jerome D’Ambrosio then topped the table with ten minutes remaining, as the Belgium driver made it a Dragon Racing 1-2 until Mitch Evans spoiled the party to go first as the track became quicker in the final few minutes.

Both Ds Virgin Racing drivers jumped back into the top three, but Daniel Abt jumped to P1 with five minutes remaining.

Yet again in the final minutes, the Ds Virgin Racing driver’s jumped into the top two with Lynn ending the session fastest.
