Di Grassi leads the way in FP1

Lucas Di Grassi has ended the first practice session in Montreal fastest after his 200kW lap was four tenths faster than Nicolas Prost and six-tenths ahead of Sebastien Buemi.

Unlike yesterday, a number of drivers conducted a 200kW lap in the first session, and the track was much faster than yesterday as the drivers were lapping a second quicker than they were 24 hours ago.

Start of the session

In the early stages of the session, it was Sam Bird who was leading the way, as the drivers conducted a few installation laps with both cars.

The lap times quickly started to tumble after the first ten minutes of the session. Tom Dillmann and Felix Rosenqvist were the first two swap fastest laps.

Drivers then set into their 170kW race runs, which started to put more rubber down onto the track surface and lap times began to drop.

End of the session

Daniel Abt confirmed Audi Sport ABT’s strong pace as he jumped to the top of the timesheets with 25 minutes of the session remaining.

However, it was soon beaten by Jean-Eric Vergne, and Sebastien Buemi managed to find some more time and move to the top of the timesheets.

The two Renault e.Dams drivers were the first drivers to start a 200kW lap. Prost was the first driver to get into the 1:21s this weekend, while another error for Buemi caused him to be a couple of tenths adrift.

Then Di Grassi started his 200kW lap and went four-tenths clear of Prost on his qualifying simulation and ended the session fastest
