Neslon Piquet Jr is confident that Jaguar has made good progress from last season, and are where he was expecting them to be this season already.
The Brazilian was impressed with the lap times the car was able to produce throughout the three days of testing at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia
“ It was a positive week. Our track times have been where we want them to be, and we have gained a lot of invaluable information ahead of the first race. The Jaguar team has a great energy, and I’m looking forward to Hong Kong,” said Piquet Jr.
The British team completed 408 laps which was equivalent to 1,224 km. Kiwi driver Mitch Evans was happy with the team’s progress but insists the team won’t know where they are until they get to Hong Kong.
“As always there have been a lot of learnings, but we won’t know until we get to Hong Kong how we will compare against the other teams. We are positive about the improvements we have made – the efficiency and weight of the car are much improved – that will help us be more competitive next season,” said Evans.
Team Principal James Barclay felt that testing was positive for the team, and is hoping that Jaguar can replicate their pace in Hong Kong.
“Pre-season testing is such an important stage for us in our technical development. It was the first time running four Jaguar I-TYPE 2 racecars together, and we have collected a lot of data from the runs. Overall, it’s been positive, and we’re looking forward to the season ahead. We are optimistic but will be working flat out until Hong Kong,” said Barclay.
