BMW factory driver Tom Blomqvist will join Antonio Felix Da Costa at Andretti for season four of the Formula E championship.
Blomqvist replaces Robin Frijns at Andretti for the new season and will be one of five rookies to make his Formula E debut next month in the season four opener in Hong Kong.
However, he is also expected to remain part of BMW’s DTM line-up. The DTM calendar for 2018 has yet to be announced, and Andretti will release Blomqvist to race in the German series if there is a class.
Alexandar Sims who tested for Andretti in Valencia will likely take Blomqvist’s seat if there is a clash between the Formula E and DTM calendar.
Formula E teams are allowed two driver changes per season, but not in the final three races unless it is a case of force majeure. Such cases are at the discretion of the race stewards at each event.
