Buemi ontop in FP1

Sebastien Buemi set the benchmark on the first practice session of the season as the field seems to have closed up from season three.

Jaguar Racing and Venturi looked like they have made massive steps forwards from the offseason, as both teams are on the pace of the leading runners in the first session.

Everybody took to the track to kick off the season, as they tried to work out who would be on top in qualifying in a couple of hours time.

Felix Rosenqvist went fastest in the first round of laps as the drivers began to find the limits of the slightly modified Hong Kong circuit from last season.

The lap times quickly started to tumble as the session went on and a familiar name jumped to the tops of the timesheets as Sebastien Buemi went fastest.

Nicolas Prost came to a stop on track. The French driver was able to get going again after he suffered a battery management issue which forced the 36-year old to restart his car.

In the middle of the session, the drivers settled down into race runs at 180kW, as this will be the first race where the drivers will use 180kW. The drivers used 170kW for the first three seasons of Formula E.

Neel Jani suffered a suspension failure on track but was able to recover the car to the pitlane, which enabled Jani to run in his second car for the remainder of the session.

The time started to tumble again at the end of the session as Rosenqvist, Alex Lynn and Sam Bird were trading fastest laps.

Piquet Jr, Lucas di Grassi, and Oliver Turvey soon joined the fight for the fastest lap, but Rosenqvist brought a halt to that fight as the Swede stopped on the exit of the final corner.

Bumei set the fastest lap of the session on the final two minutes of the session to top the morning practice session.
