Edorado Mortara established himself as one the top drivers in Formula E during his debut weekend in Hong Kong.
The Swiss driver was leading the majority of the Sunday race in Hong Kong until a spin with three laps to go cost the 30-year old and Venturi there first win in Formula E.
Mortara is fairly unknown to many fans in motorsport, and his performance in Hong Kong may have surprised a number of people.
However, Mortara has won at Macau four times in the FIA GT World Cup series. Mortara won the race three times in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and secured his fourth victory around the prestigious track in 2017.
The Swiss driver also won the 2009 and 2010 Formula Three race in Macau, which takes Mortara’s total up to six Macau victories.
Therefore, after taming one of the toughest street courses in the world, it becomes no surprise that Mortara was able to fight at the front of the field in Hong Kong.
Mortara also became Formula Three champion in 2010 and narrowly missed out on winning the DTM championship in 2016 with Audi as he missed out by four points to Marco Wittmann.
It will be interesting to see if Mortara can become a force at the front of the grid this season and if Venturi can maintain their car as a podium contender throughout the season.
