Lucas Di Grassi ends the first practice session fastest after being only one of two drivers to set a 200kW lap.
Jerome D’Ambrosio ended the session second, but the Belgian’s full power lap was nine-tenths off Di Grassi’s time.
Daniel Abt was the quickest driver running at 180kW which confirms the Germans and Audi’s strong pace
Mitch Evans continued Jaguar’s promising one lap pace at the beginning of the session, as the Kiwi was at the top of the timesheets after the first ten minutes of the session.
Mortara and Engel were struggling with a power cycle in their cars which was causing the powertrain to cut out.
The track was very dusty at the start of the session, but it began to clean up which saw lap times begin to drop by at a second with Sebastien Buemi taking the top spot in the timings.
The drivers were starting to find the limits of the track, as quite a few drivers locking the brakes, losing the backup and attacking the limits of the track.
The two Ds Virgin Racing drivers jumped to the top of the timesheets with Sam Bird leading Alex Lynn.
Teams then started to run at 200kW and Jerome D’Ambrosio jumped to the top of the timesheet, but the Dragon Racing car was only four tenth ahead of drivers that set a lap time on 180kW.
With five minutes remaining in the session, Di Grassi set a 200kW lap which was nine-tenths faster than D’Ambrosio’s lap time.
No one else set a 200kW lap time which allowed Di Grassi to end the session fastest.
