Daniel Abt finally secured his first win in Formula E after a commanding victory in Mexico.
The German driver crossed the line first in Hong Kong but was later disqualified due to an administration error with one of his car parts.
Abt is the first German winner in Formula E history, which is something the 25-year old is incredibly proud of.
“What a fantastic day – finally a win,” said Daniel Abt. “We’ve had hard times behind us, but never gave up and taken a commanding victory. I’m incredibly proud of everybody and can only thank the entire team: Both cars were simply perfect.!”
“I am so proud to be the first German to win in Formula E. We have had some incredible German drivers in this series and to be the first to win is amazing,” added Abt.
Abt’s teammate Lucas Di Grassi picked up his first points of the season after being plagued with technical issues in season four.
“That was an exciting race that and a lot of fun battling through the field,” said the Brazilian. “I am so happy to pick up my first points of the season. I’m so delighted for Daniel; he did a fantastic job! He had already earned his first victory in Hong Kong. We never give up as a team, and our fightback started today,” added Di Grassi
