Prost to leave e.dams after Season 4

It has been announced that Nicolas Prost is to leave the Renault e.dams team at the end of the season. The Frenchman has had a difficult year only scoring 7 points en route to a current championship position of 18th.

The Frenchman signed for the team in Season one, where he won a single race in Miami and went onto finish sixth in the championship. He won both races in the London double-header finale in Season 2 and finished third in the championship, but has yet to win a race or stand on a podium since.

Prost has always come short to teammate Sebastian Buemi who has finished second twice in the championship and won the 2015-16 ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

The Renault e.dams team have won all three constructors championships to date, but are yet to win a race this season, despite this Sebastian Buemi still sits in the top five in the championship, however, Nico Prost’s poor form means that he will end his contract a season earlier than planned.

His father Alain Prost had been a co-team principal with Jean Paul Driot in the e.Dams team, however, the four time Formula One champion sold his shares in April, as Renault were leaving the sport and will be replaced with affiliates Nissan from Season Five.

Nico Prost said, “I am not only happy to have been with Renault e.dams these past four seasons, I am also thrilled to have been present at the very beginning of one of the most innovative motor racing championships of all time. There are so many great memories, like my three race wins and the three Team titles. Of course, I regret season 4 hasn’t gone as well and we believe that it is best that we go our separate ways. I wish e.dams all the luck in the world and I am busy working on my new programme that I hope to announce soon.”
