Sam Bird has ended FP2 fastest, in an eventful session, which saw Loic Duval lose a wheel and Lucas Di Grassicrash at turn four.
All the drivers emerged from the pits when the green light went out, with the majority of the field going straight onto a 200kW lap.
It was Lucas Di Grassi who went fastest in the opening round of 200kW laps, with Sebastien Buemi and Nelson Piquet Jr in the top three.
Robin Frijns showed that the Andretti car had made some steps forward for the Buenos Aires ePrix as he went fourth fastest in the early stages, two-tenths off Di Grassi’s time.
With 15 minutes remaining in the session, the drivers started to do their final race runs ahead of the ePrix later in the day.
Felix Rosenqvist posted the fastest lap of the session with just over ten minutes in the session remaining, proving that the Mahindra car is once again extremely competitive.
Duval caused a red flag when his front left wheel broke loose on his warm up lap. Dragon Racing have had a number of small problems throughout the season, and their struggles are continuing in Argentina.
The session was extended by five minutes to compensate for the time lost by the red flags. In the extra five minutes, Di Grassi crashed at turn four and ripped the front of the car off, while the Bird went fastest.
