Lucas Di Grassi ended the first practice session fastest after being the only driver to set a 2ookW lap in Zurich.

Mitch Evans ended the session second fastest, but the Jaguar racing driver was the quickest driver at 180kW, with Berlin race winner Daniel Abt finishing the session in third place.

Nelson Piquet Jr showed the Jaguar Racing could be able to challenge for a podium as he fished the session in fourth place. Oliver Turvey continued his strong performance, but the NIO driver struggled with overheating brakes and hit the wall slightly causing some minor suspension damage.

Sam Bird who ended the session sixth also had a spin on the bumpy back straight after he was caught out by Jose Maria Lopez who was on an energy save lap.

The Brit slammed on the brakes and locked up booth fronts, which sent the car spinning into the wall. The DS Virgin Racing driver managed to get back to pits with just suspension damage.

Championship leader Jean-Eric Vergne ended the session seventh fastest with Felix rosenqvist behind the Frenchman in eighth.

Buemi in his home race ended the session in ninth and Lopez rounded out the top ten.

Luca Filippi and Stephane Sarrazin also stopped on track during the closing 5 minutes of the session, but both drivers were able to restart their cars and get back to the pitlane.
