Panasonic Jaguar Racing revealed the Jaguar I-Type 3, as their challenger for the upcoming 2018-19 season, at the Design Museum in London.
The team entered the series in Formula E’s third season, which they used as a developing year ahead of season four. That approached paid off for the British team as they secured their first podium at the opening weekend in Hong Kong, and their first pole in Zurich.
Team Director James Barclay is looking forward to building on last seasons performance and is aiming for podiums on a regular basis.
“This season, it’s about moving from a regular points team to a regular podium team,” stated Barclay.
He also commented on the team’s first “in-house” powertrain, meaning there were no technical partners involved in producing the powertrain.
“We believe we are the first team to develop our powertrain entirely in-house, this gives us ultimate control in terms of design and development and hope this will put us at a competitive advantage.”
“The technology is moving at an incredibly fast rate, and the new Generation 2 car will be an important test bed to help develop and drive performance of our future battery electric vehicles.”
The team retain the services of Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jr for Season Five and Ho Pin Tung stays as reserve and development driver.
