Antonio Felix Da Costa is hopeful to return to winning ways in the second half of the season, which will help build up his title challenge in the final seven races of the season.
The Portuguese driver is currently the championship leader but hasn’t won a race since the opening round of the championship in Suadi Arabia, which the BMW Andretti driver wants to change.
“With one win, three podiums and first place in the drivers’ standings, we had a really strong first half of the season, and I want to have another strong second half of the season,” said Da Costa.
“Now, seeing BMW I Andretti Motorsport as one of the top teams, is great validation for me – and great motivation to keep working just as hard to fight for the title.”
Da Costa’s team-mate Alexander Sims has had a tougher time of things in recent rounds, as collisions which have caused the Brit to retire in recent races sees him head to Rome 14th in the championship despite fighting for top-five finishes regularly.
“In the races to date, we have consistently shown great potential. We weren’t always able to get the results, for a variety of reasons, which we have analysed so that we can do better in the second half of the season,” said Sims.
BMW currently sit fifth in the teams’ championship with 80 points, 17 points off the Virgin Racing and Mahindra Racing at the top of the teams’ standings.
