Ds Techeetah driver Jean-Eric Vergne believes his team have made a significant step forward this season which has allowed him to fight for his second Formula E title this season.
Championship leader Vergne goes into the final race weekend in New York in a commanding position to take his second title, as the Frenchman has a 32 point advantage over Lucas Di Grassi with 58 points being up for grabs.
Vergne, who had a challenging start to the season has put his success in the middle of the season down to the team and the work Techeetah have done with DS which has allowed Vergne to attempt to defend his title.
“It’s been a great year for the whole team with the backing of a manufacturer on board and we’ve taken another step forward,” stated Vergne.
“The season has flown by and we’re already back in NYC to finish another season. On my side, there’s obviously the potential of another championship and the opportunity for the team to clinch the title we so nearly got last year.
“I wouldn’t say that we do anything differently for a season finale, we do our normal preparations and treat it like any other round because at the end of the day, that is what it is, and the points matter just the same.”
Team Principal Mark Preston is aiming to bring home the Teams’ championship home with them after missing out to Audi 12 months ago.
“It’s a familiar scenario for the team as we came to New York under the same premises last year. Only this time around, we’re not going to let the Teams’ championship slip away.
“Losing out with only two points last year was really painful so let’s just say that we’ve done everything in our power to make sure that doesn’t happen again. We want that team win,” said Preston.
