Oliver Rowland topped the timesheet in Free Practice 2, following a late qualifying run by the Nissan e.dams driver in preparation for qualifying for Saturday’s New York City E-Prix.
Rowland set a 1:09.685 on his final flying lap in the 30-minute session to end up 0.083 seconds quicker than BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Antonio Felix da Costa in second.
Rowland’s teammate Sebastien Buemi was third quickest, followed by FP1 pace-setter Alexander Sims in fourth and Robin Frijns completing the top-five.
Championship leader Jean-Eric Vergne had a slight lockup in the closing stages of the session, although his DS Techeetah entry did not sustain any damage.
Pascal Wehrlein ended the session sixth fastest for Mahindra with Sam Bird in seventh in the second of the Envision Virgin Racing cars.
Jerome D’Ambrosio was eighth fastest with Felipe Massa in ninth and Mitch Evans in tenth.
