Antonio Felix da Costa will compete alongside current world champion Jean-Eric Vergne at DS Techeetah for the upcoming season.
The Portuguese driver finished in sixth last season, taking four podium finishes including his victory in the opening race of the season in Saudi Arabia.
The announcement of Da Costa completes the team’s line up for season six, after it was announced that Andre Lotterer was making the move to compete with Porsche.
Da Costa knew being given the opportunity to join a team as successful as DS Techeetah was not something that happens regularly.
“Getting the opportunity to join a double championship-winning team in such a highly competitive motorsport category like Formula E is very rare,” said the 28 year old.
After three seasons driving for BMW i Andretti Motorsport team Da Costa knew it was an opportunity he could not decline despite it being hard to leave his old team.
“It was a very hard decision to leave my current position but it’s an opportunity I just couldn’t say no to and I’m very excited to join Jean-Eric and everyone at DS Techeetah.” he said.
DS Techeetah team principal Mark Preston is looking forward to Da Costa joining the team and working with him again.
“It’s fantastic to have Antonio with the team. He’s a good friend to all of us and we’re all looking forward to welcoming him and to see him in the gold and black DS Techeetah colours,” he said.
Finishing in sixth in the championship last season was the highest finish Da Costa has secured in the series and Preston is looking forward to what more Da Costa can achieve whilst partnering Vergne in the team.
“He will be a great, and fast, addition to the team and we’re all very excited to see what Jean-Eric and Antonio will deliver on track this coming year.”
