Envision Virgin Racing have revealed their season six car; the Audi e-train FE06 today.
It was also announced that the driver line up will remain unchanged. Sam Bird and Robin Frijns will once again be racing alongside each other for a second season together.
The Audi e-train FE06 livery still incorporates the teams distinguishable colour scheme of purple, silver and red but has been tweaked to look slicker.
The teams managing director Sylvain Filippi recognised how competitive the series has become but knows the team needs to be consistent to be successful.
“Formula E has become the most competitive championship in the world and with new manufacturers joining – alongside those we were competing against in season five – having consistency is key for the team,” he said.
After a positive season five which saw the team secure three race wins and six podium finishes Filippi is hoping that their improved car can prove to bring more success in season six.
“Retaining our strong driver line-up has allowed us to focus all our efforts on the upcoming season and to really utilise our knowledge and experience. Having concluded an extremely successful first full season with Envision Group, we’re now looking ahead to the upcoming seasons where we can develop our team experience, both as a team and with our partners.” he added.
After his victory in New York Frijns is eager to bring that momentum into this season.
He said “We ended last season on a high – with my season finale win in New York City – and we want to continue this momentum. We’ve worked hard over the summer period and are now looking forward to pre-season testing in Valencia.”
Teammate Sam Bird also echoed his desire to continue the team’s success in season six.
“I’m excited for season six, as a team we really showed that our experience in Formula E is a huge strength last season and with a top three finish I think we can continue to use this and push forward.” he said.
