Despite the season five champions not being at the top of the timings in testing Team principal Mark Preston beilievs the the team have had a successful three days.
The Brit explained that the aim of testing was to go through a planned programme which they where able to do.
He said “It’s always interesting to see what everyone has been up to over summer and with two more teams on the grid, it’s been a fun week. We’ve had a successful week as we ran through our planned testing program and integrated Antonio.”
Preston also added that it was not about performance but expressed it was positive to see both drivers near the top of the timings.
“Although it’s not an indicator of performance, it’s a good sign that we’ve had both our drivers running in the front pack as it’s a pointer that we are prepared for the season to come.”
New driver to the team Antonio Felix Da Costa finished each day higher than teammate Jean-Eric Vergne.
Da Costa expressed the Techeetah car felt very different to his old car but enjoyed being able to go out and test it.
“It’s been really good to have a proper go in the DS E-TENSE FE20 during the last couple of days here in Valencia.”
“It’s very different from the car I had before so it’s going to take some time to get used to the new system but once I have all of that in the bag it’s going to be a fun season.” he said.
Reigning champion Vergne was pleased to be back on track and to be able to check what was required.
“I’ve been longing to get back into the car after the summer break, so it’s been good to have some proper outings. We managed to run through most of the things we wanted to with good results.” he said.
Testing was important for Vergne and the team to test for any mechanical issues, but he is now focusing ahead to the first face in Diriyah.
He said “These days are really important for us as we check that all the systems are up to speed and that we don’t have any mechanical issues so that we’re good to for the first race. Now we have a couple of weeks of sim prep and media activities before we go racing in Diriyah on the 22 November.”
