Report: Nick Cassidy to replace Sam Bird at Virgin

Nick Cassidy has reportedly agreed to replace Sam Bird at Envision Virgin Racing from the start of the 2020-21 Formula E season.

According to The Race, Cassidy has agreed to join the Silverstone-based team from next season, with set to replace James Calado at Jaguar.

Cassidy has served as the team’s test driver this season after winning the 2019 Super Formula championship.

The 25-year-old New Zealander tested a Formula E car most recently at the Marrakesh rookie test, where he topped the timing charts.

He had been rumoured to replace Pascal Wehrlein at Mahindra, but his seat was taken by Alex Lynn.

Formula E returns to action next month with six races set to be run at the Templehof Airport circuit in Berlin.
