Edoardo Mortara has ended the first morning session of pre-season testing fastest for Venturi on a damp track in Valencia.
The Swiss-Italian driver set his lap time in the last ten minutes of the three hour session setting a 1.18.148. Reigning Champion Antonio Felix Da Costa ended the morning second fastest with a 1.18.179. The Portuguese driver claimed top spot for the first two hours of the session before there were a flurry of faster laps at the end of the session.
Oliver Turvey ended the morning in third. The NIO 333 team were towards the rear of the field for most of the session, but the Brit put in a 1.18.325 to end it just under two-tenths slower than Mortara’s lap-time.
Alexander Sims was fourth for Mahindra, with Sergio Sette Camara in fifth for Dragon. The Brazilian driver caused the first red flag of the session in the first hour of running, as he stopped his car in the first sector.
Nick Cassidy finished the session in sixth for Envision Virgin Racing, with Rene Rast in seventh for Audi. Robin Frijns ended the session in eighth in the second Virgin machine with newcomer Jake Dennis finishing in ninth for BMW Andretti.
Sam Bird rounded out the top ten in his first public outing in the Jaguar after he made the switch from Virgin Racing to Jaguar. The top ten were covered by three-tenths of a second.
Oliver Rowland was 11th for Nissan, with Lucas Di Grassi in 12th in the second Audi. Pascal Wehrlein was 13th in his first outing for Porsche. The German was ahead of rookie Formula E driver Norman Nato in the second Venturi car.
Alex Lynn was 15th for Mahindra with Stoffel Vandoorne in 16th in the leading Mercedes. Sébastien Buemi ended 17th. The Nissan e.Dams driver caused the second red flag of the day during the second hour.
Double Formula E Champion Jean-Eric Vergne was 18th fastest ahead of Nyck De Vries in 19th, Maximillian Gunther in 20th, and Tom Blomqvist in 21st.
Nico Muller was 22nd fastest for Dragon, with Andre Lotterer in 23rd and Mitch Evans in 24th.
