Di Grassi tops Sunday practice

Lucas Di Grassi has topped the sole practice session ahead of Round 13 in London, setting a 1:20.001 to set the fastest time by more than a quarter of a second.

Di Grassi is still searching for a drive for next season due to Audi pulling out of the series, and his recent form is indicating that the 36-year old can’t be ignored going into season eight.

The track was completely dry for this session, which meant we got a chance to see what a dry lap time looked like on the Excel track.

Alex Lynn’s pole time from yesterday was 1.23.245, which means Di Grassi’s time this morning was over three seconds faster than what was achieved yesterday on a drying track.

Yesterday’s race winner Jake Dennis was second, with fellow Brit Oliver Rowland in third. Nyck De Vries ended the session fourth just ahead of championship leader Sam Bird in fifth.

Andre Lotterer ended the session almost half a second down in sixth, with Mitch Evans in seventh. Sergio Sette Camara ended eighth with Max Guenther and Nick Cassidy completing the top ten.

Pascal Wehrlein ended 11th ahead of the two DS Techeetahs of Jean-Eric Vergne and Antonio Felix da Costa.

Edoardo Mortara was 14th and Robin Frijns 15th, with Tom Blomqvist 16th, Rene Rast 17th, and Stoffel Vandoorne 18th, with Alexander Sims and Joel Eriksson completing the top 20.

Yesterday’s pole-sitter Alex Lynn was 21st, with Oliver Turvey in 22nd, Sebastien Buemi 23rd, and Norman Nato completing the field.
