Dragon’s Sergio Sette Camara topped the first free practice session in London as the drivers got to grips with the indoor-outdoor London ExCel circuit.
The Brazilian set a 1:14.487 to take the top spot ahead of Mitch Evans, who was over a tenth behind. The Jaguar Racing driver set a 1:14.659 to end the session second fastest.
Nick Cassidy continued his impressive form from New York to end third for Envision Racing.
Antonio Giovinazzi confirmed Dragon’s strong pace with a fourth-place finish for the Italian driver. The former Alfa Romeo Formula 1 driver set a 1:14.834.
The Dragons’ did struggle into Turn 1 as both drivers locked their brakes consistently, but despite the lock-ups, both drivers proved that the car might have some pace this weekend.
Reigning champion Nyck De Vries was fifth for Mercedes, who was ahead of Sebastien Buemi in the Nissan in sixth.
Pascal Wehrlein was seventh for Porsche ahead of the current championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne.
Sam Bird was ninth in the second Jaguar Racing car, and Antonio Felix Da Costa rounded out the top ten in the DS Techeetah.
Andre Lotterer was 11th in the second Porsche, and he finished ahead of Edoardo Mortara, who finished the session with a mistake at Turn 1.
The Venturi driver locked the rears into the first corner and narrowly missed the wall. He was able to recover to the run-off area to spin the car round and carry on.
Oliver Rowland was 13th for Mahindra ahead of Maximilian Guenther for Nissan. Lucas Di Grassi was 15th in the second Venturi.
Robin Frijns got caught in traffic on his 250kW lap and ended the session down in 16th in the second Envision Racing car.
Season five champion Jean-Eric Vergne was 17th ahead of Oliver Turvey and last year’s race winner Jake Dennis.
Oliver Askew was 20th for Andretti, with Dan Ticktum in 21st for NIO 333, and Alexander Sims was 22nd.
