Jean-Eric Vergne has topped what could be a crucial Practice Two session, as if qualifying is rained off, the times from this session will set the grid for this afternoon’s race. The Frenchman needs to take pole to ensure he stays in the championship hunt.

The session was halted early when first Alexander Sims, then Nick Cassidy parked their cars up at the side of the circuit.

Third in the championship, Edoardo Mortara finished second in the session ahead of Pascal Wehrlein and Lucas Di Grassi.

Oliver Askew ended fifth ahead of Cassidy, with Oliver Turvey and Sergio Sette Camara impressing in seventh and Eighth respectively. Atonio Felix da Costa and Jake Dennis completed the top ten.

Antonio Giovinazzi was an impressive 11th ahead of Mitch Evans. Sebastien Buemi was 13th with teammate Max Guenther just behind. Dan Ticktum was 15th ahead of championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne, with Andre Lotterer and Robin Frijns 17th and 18th.

Nyck De Vries only ended 19th quickest ahead of Norman Nato with the two Mahindras of Oliver Rowland and Sims completing the field.
