Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein was fastest in the opening practice session of this weekend’s Rome E-Prix, the German set a 1:39.632 to go over a quarter of a second clear of second-placed Sam Bird.
Edoardo Mortara was third for Maserati MSG ahead of Sebastien Buemi and Mitch Evans, who felt he had been impeded on multiple occasions by Roberto Merhi.
Jean-Eric Vergne was sixth ahead of Norman Nato and Max Guenther, with Sacha Fenestraz and Antonio Felix da Costa completing the top 10.
Reigning champion Stoffel Vandoorne was 11th ahead of Jake Hughes, with Nick Cassidy in 13th. The two NIO 333s ended 14th and 15th with Sergio Sette Camara ahead of Dan Ticktum.
Rene Rast was 16th, then came the Noah’s Arc formation of the Andrettis, Mahindras and ABTs which completed the field.
Andre Lotterer finished ahead of Jake Dennis while none of the Mahindra-powered cars (Mahindra and ABT) set competitive times, Lucas Di Grassi ahead of Roberto Mehri, with Robin Frijns and Nico Mueller not setting a time.
