Norman Nato topped the second free practice session in Diriyah, setting a 1:13.584, almost 2 seconds quicker than the fastest time of FP1, but still 3.5 seconds away from the corresponding session last season.

Max Gunther ended the session second quickest just three hundredths behind Nato, with Nato’s teammate Jake Dennis a tenth back in third. Sebastien Buemi and Mitch Evans completed the top five.

Stoffel Vandoorne ended in sixth, with the two Nissans of Oliver Rowland and Sacha Fenestraz in seventh and eighth with Lucas Di Grassi in ninth and Nick Cassidy in tenth.

Dan Ticktum just missed out on a place in the top ten ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne and Sam Bird, while Nico Mueller was 14th and championship leader Pascal Wehrlein was 15th.

Jake Hughes finished in 16th with Sergio Sette Camara, Edoardo Mortara and Robin Frijns behind. Nyck De Vries ended in 20th with Jehan Daruvala and Antonio Felix da Costa completing the timing sheets.
