Dan Ticktum was left far from impressed with his team Cupra Kiro after qualifying in Monaco, saying he could “punch someone” — but David Coulthard said the Brit should look at himself.
During the duels stage of qualifying, the British driver was unable to activate the 350kW power mode, leaving Ticktum on the back foot as he went up against Nyck de Vries.
The 25-year-old vexed his frustrations at his team over the radio and the broadcast, suggesting that the team had made a massive blunder.
“The team just messed up what mode the car should be in and I didn’t get to go 350kW,” Ticktum revealed on the official Formula E broadcast.
“I got 350kW on the out-lap, and then it cancelled on the start/finish straight,” continued Ticktum. “So that’s just great, isn’t it.
“I’ve done my job this weekend, it’s just not good enough. I suggest I don’t talk to my team for at least two hours, because I think I might punch someone.”
Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard was disgruntled by the Cupra Kiro driver’s comments, and had some stern words for Ticktum on the official Formula E broadcast.
“Come on, let’s be honest, it’s funny to watch, but the team are there when you’re doing well, you’ve got to be there for the team when things aren’t going so well,” said Coulthard.
“So, you know, I’d put him in a room with a mirror if he wants to go and punch somebody.”
Dan Ticktum will start Sunday’s Monaco E-Prix from seventh on the grid, a step down from his P3 qualifying performance on Saturday.
