Envision Racing has confirmed that Dutch driver Robin Frijns will depart the team at the end of the current Formula E season.

Frijns joined the outfit then know n as Envision Virgin Racing in 2018. His first spell with the team lasted until 2022 and delivered two race victories — the 2019 Paris E-Prix in wet and chaotic conditions and the 2019 New York City E-Prix season finale — along with 13 podium finishes.

After a season away with ABT Cupra in 2022–23, Frijns returned to Envision for Season 10, reuniting with the squad for the past two seasons.

Managing Director and CTO Sylvain Filippi praised Frijns’ contribution on and off the track.

“Throughout Robin’s six seasons with Envision Racing, he has delivered excellent results and cracking drives, and we have thoroughly enjoyed working with such a talented driver,” Filippi said.

“His two victories and numerous podiums stand out, but also his raw speed and ability to deliver a lap when it mattered. He’s been a fierce competitor and a valued part of our team.”

Filippi acknowledged that the team is now looking to the future. “Formula E is an ever-evolving championship, and for us, the time has come for an exciting new change,” he said. “We look forward to announcing our Season 12 line-up shortly.”

The team has yet to confirm Frijns’ replacement, but speculation is already mounting ahead of the official reveal.

If Frijns wants to remain in the series, his options are fairly limited, with a seat at Jaguar available or potentially at Cupra Kiro. However, his long-standing relationship with Audi and BMW may hinder those opportunities.
