Envision Racing has confirmed Swedish driver Joel Eriksson as its second full-time driver for the upcoming Formula E Season 12, completing the team’s line-up alongside former champion Sébastien Buemi.

The 27-year-old has signed a multi-year deal with the Silverstone-based outfit, marking his first full campaign in the all-electric championship. Eriksson previously stood in for the team during Season 10’s Berlin E-Prix, where he impressed immediately by scoring points on his debut weekend.

Eriksson’s relationship with Envision dates back to 2018, when he first tested for the team at the Marrakesh rookie session following a successful rise through Formula 4 and Formula 3. He later contested eight races in Season 7 with a rival team, stepping up from a reserve role to a race seat.

Since then, Eriksson has remained a familiar face in the Formula E paddock, contributing heavily through simulator and development work over the past three years. His deep understanding of the series’ technical and strategic demands is seen as a key strength heading into his first full-time season.

Reflecting on his new opportunity, Eriksson said:
“I am delighted to have signed with Envision Racing. This is a huge moment in my career and something I’ve been working towards for a long time. I’m very thankful to the team for their trust, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Envision Racing Managing Director & CTO Sylvain Filippi praised Eriksson’s progression:
“We have known Joel for many years, from his first Formula E test with us in Marrakesh to racing for us in Berlin last season. On both occasions, he showed his talent and adapted very quickly, even scoring points on debut. With his simulator experience at Jaguar, we are confident he will deliver strong results.”

Echoing that sentiment, Franz Jung, CEO and Chairman of Envision Racing, added:
“We are proud to welcome Joel to the team. He impressed us in Berlin, and we look forward to building on that as he starts this new chapter as a full-time driver.”

Eriksson and Buemi will represent Envision Racing when Formula E Season 12 begins with official pre-season testing in Valencia from 27–31 October.
