Jake Dennis continued his strong form from São Paulo by setting the pace in the opening free practice session of the Mexico City E-Prix weekend.
The Season Nine World Champion topped the timesheets with a 1:06.053 in his Porsche-powered Andretti, looking immediately at home around the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Pascal Wehrlein made it a Porsche one-two, ending the session second after a 1:06.090 for the factory Porsche squad.
Porsche’s impressive Mexico record once again came to the fore, with both Dennis and Wehrlein having taken victories at the circuit in Seasons Nine and Ten, respectively.
Reigning World Champion Oliver Rowland was third fastest for Nissan, just over a tenth off the top time with a 1:06.106. DS Penske locked out fourth and fifth, Maximilian Günther leading teammate Taylor Barnard.
Nico Müller placed sixth in the second Porsche, while Norman Nato ended FP1 seventh for Nissan. Antonio Félix da Costa followed in eighth, with Jean-Éric Vergne ninth in the Citroën. Mitch Evans completed the top ten for Jaguar.
Edoardo Mortara finished 11th for Mahindra, ahead of Sébastien Buemi in 12th for Envision Racing. Nick Cassidy was 13th in the second Citroën after hitting the wall on his final flying lap, breaking his right-rear suspension and limping back to the pit lane.
Dan Ticktum took 14th, with Pepe Martí 15th for CUPRA Kiro. Joel Eriksson ended the session 16th for Envision Racing, ahead of Felipe Drugovich in 17th. Zane Maloney finished 18th, Nyck de Vries was 19th, and Lucas di Grassi rounded out the field after suffering a brake failure at Turn 1.
