Maximilian Günther will join Paysafe Envision Formula E Team for the 2026-2027 season, as the German driver makes the move ahead of Formula E’s new GEN4 era.
Günther brings eight seasons of Formula E experience to the team, having established himself as one of the championship’s most accomplished race winners. The 29-year-old has seven victories to his name, including his breakthrough win at the 2020 Santiago E-Prix, when he became the youngest winner in Formula E history at the time.
The German driver drove for DS Penske for the last two seasons, but has opted for a new challenge ahead of the GEN4 era and believes Paysafe Envision has the ingredients required to compete at the front.
“I’m very happy to become a Paysafe Envision Formula E driver for the GEN4 era and I really look forward to our future together,” said Guther
“The team has a very successful history in Formula E and exceptional quality throughout the organisation. Our aim is to combine our strengths and achieve great success, competing at the very top.
“I truly believe we have all the ingredients to build something really special together.”
Günther also highlighted the team’s environment, ambition and technical package as key reasons behind his decision to join, with the partnership with Jaguar another major attraction.
“What convinced me about the project was the great environment, the high ambition of the team, the mindset and, of course, the excellent technical package together with Jaguar,” he added.
“I’m proud to become part of the team and have a fantastic feeling about our future.”
Paysafe Envision Managing Director and CTO Sylvain Filippi believes Günther’s experience and qualifying pace will make him an important addition as the team prepares for the demands of GEN4.
“We are thrilled to announce Max as our newest driver at Paysafe Envision Formula E Team,” said Filippi.
“Season 13 is going to be an important year for all teams; learning the GEN4 car as well as a new sporting format, which is going to put an even bigger focus on outright pace and speed.
“Max has proven how capable he is at delivering qualifying laps when it matters, as well as podium finishes and race wins. We’re incredibly excited to start working with him and hit the ground running at pre-season testing in November.”
Günther will get his first opportunity to work with the team’s GEN4 package during pre-season testing at the Circuit del Jarama, which is scheduled to take place from November 16-20.
