Pascal Wehrlein has taken pole position for the London E-Prix after the Porsche-powered cars showed strong pace throughout qualifying, with Wehrlein eventually coming out on top in an all-Porsche-powered final.
The Porsche driver came up against Dan Ticktum in the semi-finals, with Ticktum driving the Porsche-powered Cupra Kiro. Ticktum appeared to slow down on the exit of the final corner, ensuring Wehrlein progressed to the final and secured his place in the fight for pole position.
On the other side of the draw, Nico Müller, Wehrlein’s teammate, managed to beat Mitch Evans in the semi-final. The result set up an all-Porsche-powered final, with Wehrlein eventually taking pole after Müller slowed down on the exit of the final corner.
Wehrlein’s pole position earns him three points and puts him level with Mitch Evans in the championship standings. The German is now just two points behind championship leader Jake Dennis, setting up an exciting battle heading into the race.
Müller will start from second place, with Evans lining up third for Jaguar. Ticktum will start the race from fourth place after his strong qualifying performance in the Cupra Kiro.
Championship leader Jake Dennis will start from fifth place. The British driver found himself involved in a close-fought battle with the Mahindra drivers during the group qualifying sessions. Nyck de Vries held up the Season 9 World Champion during the session, but Dennis was still able to progress into the next stage. Both Mahindra drivers, however, failed to make it into the duels.
Joel Eriksson will start from sixth place during his final weekend with Envision Racing. The Swede will be joined on the third row by António Félix da Costa, who will line up seventh.
Jean-Éric Vergne was the slowest of the quarter-final losers and will start the race from eighth place for DS Penske. De Vries will line up ninth for Mahindra, while Sébastien Buemi rounds out the top ten on his final weekend with Envision Racing.
Further down the grid, Edoardo Mortara will start from 18th after receiving a five-place grid penalty for his collision with Joel Eriksson in Tokyo.
Oliver Rowland will start from 13th place for Nissan as he looks to defend his championship position this weekend. With Dennis starting fifth and Wehrlein now level on points with Evans, the London E-Prix is set to provide another crucial chapter in the fight for the Formula E championship.
