Jean-Eric Vergne ended the first free practice session fastest for DS Penske, as the French-American team secured a one-two.
The Frenchmen set a 1.17.564 at 350KW and Stoffel Vandoorne backed up Vergne’s pace to finish in second with a 1.17.746.
Nick Cassidy came home in third place for Jaguar setting a 1.17.906. Jehan Daruvala came home in fourth place for Maserati setting a 1.17.996.
Mitch Evans was fifth in the second Jaguar. The Kiwi, who is yet to win this season, set a 1.18.103.
Nico Muller was the sixth fastest for ABT. The German driver set a 1.18.120. Sebastien Buemi was seventh fastest in the Envision after the season two champion set a 1.18.159.
Sam Bird finished in eighth for McLaren. The Brit was ahead of championship leader Pascal Wehrlein.
Sergio Sette Camara put in an impressive performance for ERT to round out the top ten.
Antonio Felix Da Costa finished the session in 11th for Porsche. The season six champion was ahead of Oliver Rowland in the Nissan.
Dan Ticktum was 13th in the second ERT. Lucas Di Grassi finished the session in 14th ahead of Jake Hughes and Sacha Fenestraz.
Jake Dennis was only the 17th fastest. The reigning champion struggled to get up to pace in first practice, whilst his teammate Norman Nato spent a lot of time in the garage and ended the session in 20th.
Robin Frijns was 18th quickest in the second Envision and was ahead of Nyck De Vries.
Maximilian Gunther finished the session in 21st, but had a brake failure and crawled back to the pit lane halfway through the session.
Edoardo Mortara didn’t set a lap after the Mahindra driver had a battery issue that the team noticed before the start of the session.
