Antonio Felix Da Costa takes back-to-back victories in Portland, securing his fourth win of the season and his third in a row.
The Porsche driver drove a measured race, attacking at the right time to take the lead in the closing stages.
The Portuguese driver was in the lead during a late safety car period to clear up debris.
Once the race resumed, Da Costa was still considering supporting his teammate Pascal Wehrlein in the championship, who was running in fourth place. However, Wehrlein couldn’t make his way through the field, allowing Da Costa to attack in the final three laps.
He had to fend off Robin Frijns, who attacked hard in the closing three laps. But Da Costa was able to hold off the Envision Racing driver to secure the victory.
Frijns claimed back-to-back second places in Portland, which will boost his job prospects as he looks to secure a seat with Envision Racing for 2025.
Mitch Evans claimed the final step on the podium. Evans was slightly down on energy and couldn’t attack the front two.
The Jaguar Racing driver had to hold off Pascal Wehrlein on the final lap. Wehrlein was angry with the Kiwi, feeling that Evans had moved under braking into Turn 10. The two drivers crossed the line a tenth apart.
Wehrlein finished in fourth, ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne, who started in pole position for Sunday’s race.
Nico Muller finished in an impressive sixth place for ABT Cupra, ahead of Norman Nato in the Andretti, and Maximilian Gunther, who finished eighth for Maserati.
Sebastien Buemi finished in ninth place in the second Envision Racing. Reigning World Champion Jake Dennis claimed the final point.
Stoffel Vandoorne finished outside the points in 11th for DS Penske. Jehan Daruvala finished in 12th for Maserati.
Championship leader Nick Cassidy failed to score a point in Portland, seeing his championship lead cut down to 12 points, with both Wehrlein and Evans tied on 155 points in second.
Cassidy had to pit during the race after making contact with an Andretti at Turn 1, damaging his front wing.
Sergio Sette Camara was 14th for ERT, ahead of his teammate Dan Ticktum in 15th.
Caio Collet finished his debut weekend in 16th for Nissan. Lucas Di Grassi was 17th, and Sacha Fenestraz was 18th after picking up a five-second penalty for causing a collision with Jake Hughes.
Edoardo Mortara, Sam Bird, Nyck De Vries, and Jake Hughes all failed to finish the race.
