Taylor Barnard secured pole position in Monaco and three valuable points for his championship charge after Oliver Rowland crashed during the final.
Rowland was the first car on track in the final, but he overshot the first corner and hit the barrier with the rear of his car.
The Nissan driver was able to continue and return the car to the garage, but the incident allowed Barnard to cruise around the circuit and secure his second pole position of the season, following his first in Jeddah.
Dan Ticktum will start from third place after topping both practice sessions and Group B of qualifying. He set the second-fastest lap of the weekend with a time of 1:26.423, but Barnard managed to go a tenth quicker moments later to progress to the final.
Nyck de Vries will start fourth for Mahindra after losing out to Rowland in the semi-final stage.
Reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein will line up fifth after being the fastest loser in the quarter-finals. The Porsche driver was beaten by Rowland.
Robin Frijns had a much-improved qualifying session for Envision Racing, securing sixth place after losing out to Ticktum in the quarter-finals.
Jake Dennis will start seventh after being outqualified by de Vries in the first round of the duels.
Mitch Evans will start eighth on the grid for Jaguar Racing after losing to Barnard in the quarter-finals.
Nick Cassidy’s difficult run with Jaguar continued as he qualified 19th, finishing tenth in Group B, while his teammate Evans advanced to the duels after placing second in the same group.
Antonio Felix da Costa endured a tough qualifying session, managing only 15th after setting the eighth-fastest time in Group B.
Edoardo Mortara will start ninth for Mahindra, as the team aims to score with both drivers for the first time since Jeddah.
Maximilian Günther will line up tenth for DS Penske, having finished fifth in Group A.
David Beckmann will start 11th in the second Cupra Kiro, ahead of Sam Bird in the second McLaren. Stoffel Vandoorne starts 13th in the lead Maserati.
Nico Müller will line up 14th for Andretti, ahead of da Costa and Jean-Éric Vergne in the second DS Penske.
Lucas di Grassi will start 17th, ahead of Nissan’s Norman Nato in 18th and Cassidy in 19th.
Sébastien Buemi will start 20th, followed by Jake Hughes in 21st, with Zane Maloney rounding out the grid in 22nd.
