Pascal Wehrlein drove a brilliant race to take victory in London and claim the lead of the Championship from Nick Cassidy.
Wehrlein had to survive a late safety car and a full course yellow to secure victory after the German driver took the race into his own hands to ensure that he won it.
The Porsche driver looked under pressure while he was sitting in third place, with Sebastien Buemi and Mitch Evans in front of him after taking their first Attack Mode.
Wehrlein still had to take two Attack Modes, but he had a two percent advantage on Evans and Buemi.
The 29-year-old attacked and passed both Evans and Buemi to take the lead of the race. Then he built up a 1.4-second lead to take his Attack Mode and came out in front of Evans.
Evans then took his second Attack Mode to try and undercut Wehrlein, but the Porsche driver was able to keep building a gap and kept the lead after taking his second Attack Mode.
Wehrlein then built up a three-second lead and dominated the race, but that lead was wiped out when the second safety car of the race was called due to debris from Sacha Fenestraz hitting Norman Nato into the wall.
After the restart, Maximilian Gunther, who moved into second place after passing Evans who was struggling with energy, suffered a driveshaft failure which brought out a Full Course Yellow.
Wehrlein was able to keep the lead of the race in the final three laps of the 39-lap race after two laps were added on.
Evans took the fastest lap of the race with two laps to go and secured second place. Buemi came home in third place for Envision Racing.
Nyck De Vries came home in fourth place for Mahindra, and his teammate Edoardo Mortara finished in fifth place, which is Mahindra’s best collective finish of the season.
Nico Muller picked up eight points for finishing in sixth place for ABT Cupra.
Nick Cassidy came home in seventh which means he drops to third in the championship, after having a 12-point advantage at the start of the race.
It means just seven points covers the top three in the championship going into the final race of the season on Sunday.
Sam Bird came home in eighth place for McLaren after being last on the opening lap after he was caught up in an incident with Dennis and Robin Frijns.
That incident caused the first safety car of the race when Dennis dived down the inside of Frijns at the Turn 10 chicane. The Stewards deemed that Dennis was at fault and he was penalised with a ten-second time penalty.
Dennis would be involved in two other incidents picking up two 5-second time penalties, which brought his total up to 20 seconds.
The Reigning champion pulled off several daring moves during the race as he had nothing to lose after picking up his penalty. The Andretti driver finished in 16th.
Stoffel Vandoorne finished in ninth place for DS Penske and Norman Nato picked up the final point in tenth place.
